Meet Wala Truscott
I live on a 10-acre property a few km from the outskirts of Adelaide, South Australia but home is in the small country town of Morgan (population 500).
I am blessed to be surrounded by a group of amazing friends and some of those friendships span 35 years – they are what I cherish the most.
What business are you currently running? |
I have created a business ‘Lovers Masterclass’ offering adult education on all things sex, love, and relationships.
I offer private coaching and bodywork packages, workshops, webinars, and in the process of creating online courses. |
Assuming you are now in “Your Next Chapter”, what led you here? Was there an internal discontent or an external issue you felt strongly about that prompted a change in direction? |
This is definitely a story that needs a bean bags, bare feet, a bottle of red, and a damn good sunset. But, here’s the crux of what lead me here.
The man who I thought I was going to take my last breath in life ended our intimate yet open relationships not only abruptly but brutally as well. He was basically cheating on me in an open relationship so that sent me into a whirlwind of wanting to know WHY people can’t ask for what they want even when they have full permission to do so. And, I have always been sexually open-minded but I was corporate by day quiet and unsuspecting yet my weekends were full of taboo and events society frown upon. |
What did you find most challenging about getting started/moving in a new direction? |
In the world of sexuality, the majority of the offerings are taught by Tantric Teachers (Neo-Tantra) or the Spiritual (hippy whoo whoo) and this is why my journey started but I spent the first 2 years in complete and utter confusion with all the language and the airy-fairy teachings and promise.
I turned into that answer-chasing workshop junkie always looking for my new spiritual high. And then I connected with my teachers, Michaela Boehm and Steve James. Finally, I found the real deal when it came to well-grounded, real and realistic teachings. |
What have you found most fulfilling? |
The life-long friends that I have made with people all around the world.
Have you experienced self-doubt? What causes it to flare and how do you work through it when it hits? |
My self-doubt flares up when I see ‘social-media’ influencing people to buy chips and chocolate but the teachers who give you genuine nourishment, what I call broccoli and green beans aren’t found twerking into a camera selling you the magic snake oil of how to be someone you’re not!
How do you feel you have grown since you started? |
Not sure this question can be answered in a way that would do the question justice.
What I can say is that I am probably the woman my previous partner has always wanted. |
Have you developed any particular habits/strategies that facilitate getting things done in your business? |
I move my body every day!
Why do you feel women in the 40’s and beyond make fabulous entrepreneurs? |
We’re well trained in knuckling down and getting shit done.
What would you say to other women who are standing on the edge of their own Next Chapter, not sure if they can take the leap? |
The quickest way to change is to change slowly.
When you feel resistance in your body, pause. Imagine your toes creeping up to the edge of what brings you those feelings to your belly, pause, and breath. Have a little peep at the possibilities with a curious eye but don’t jump, pause, and inhale. Now take a tiny step back and exhale. Name and acknowledge the emotion. As you inhale as you take a small step forward but don’t jump. Take a conscious step forward with curiosity and opportunity in mind that you’ve chosen your next step because you want to, not because you were pushed or have to. |
What’s next for you? Share your vision with us! |
To make adult education about improving and learning about love, sex, and relationship to be seen as a positive choice and a part of maintaining good relationships instead of waiting until there’s a crisis.
